Yesterday we did something kind of crazy.
We started a church.
I mean we don't have a building or big fancy screens or a parking lot or anything, but it's a church nonetheless.
Yesterday morning we held an informational meeting in Roanoke to discuss what we we're starting and why we were starting it. About forty people showed up which (to be perfectly honest) is about double what I had expected. People were curious, but more importantly, people were excited.
I am absolutely thrilled.
I'm thrilled to be doing something that I believe in--that I can be excited to raise my kids in.
I'm thrilled that we can create a space for people to be honest about their beliefs, their questions, their reservations, and even (sometimes especially) their doubts.
But most of all, I'm thrilled that there are people who want to take this journey with us--people who are also asking the same kinds of questions that I've been asking and looking for something new, something different.
I'm excited that people are excited.
So here's the plan: We will hold preview services on Sunday, January 19 at 9:00AM and 10:30AM. There will be music. There will be a meal. There will be a sermon. We don't know where the services will be, but I will update the church's page on this site as well as the Facebook page when we figure it out.
Stay tuned. We're just getting started.
